Điều 705
Một tu sĩ được thăng chức Giám Mục vẫn còn là thành viên của tu hội mình, nhưng do lời khấn vâng phục, tu sĩ ấy chỉ phải tùy thuộc một mình Đức Giáo Hoàng Rôma mà thôi, và không buộc phải giữ những nghĩa vụ mà chính tu sĩ ấy, do sự khôn ngoan của mình, xét thấy là không tương hợp với địa vị của mình.
Canon 705
A religious who is raised to the episcopate remains a member of his institute, but is subject only to the Roman Pontiff by his vow of obedience. He is not bound by obligations which he prudently judges are not compatible with his condition. [A religious bishop lacks an active and passive voice in his own institute. If a religious is appointed a judge of the Roman Rota, he is not exempt from the religious Ordinary or from the obligations deriving from the religious profession (as in the case of religious raised to the episcopate), except in what concerns the exercise of his office. Tu sĩ được nói đến trên đây:1° nếu đã mất quyền sở hữu tài sản do lời khấn, thì sẽ có quyền sử dụng, quyền hưởng hoa lợi và quyền quản trị tài sản nhận được; tuy nhiên, một Giám Mục giáo phận và những vị được nói đến ở điều 381
§2, thủ đắc quyền sở hữu cho Giáo Hội địa phương; những vị khác thủ đắc quyền này cho tu hội hay cho Tòa Thánh, tùy tu hội có khả năng để chấp hữu hay không;2° nếu đã không mất quyền sở hữu tài sản do lời khấn, thì sẽ nhận lại quyền sử dụng, quyền hưởng hoa lợi và quyền quản trị tài sản đã có trước đây; còn các tài sản có sau đó, thì được toàn quyền thủ đắc cho mình;3° tuy nhiên, trong cả hai trường hợp, đương sự phải định đoạt các tài sản đã nhận được không phải vì danh nghĩa cá nhân theo ý muốn của người dâng cúng.
Canon 706
In the case of the religious mentioned above:1° if he has lost the ownership of his goods through his profession he now has the use and enjoyment and the administration of the goods which he acquires. In the case of a diocesan Bishop and of those mentioned in can. 381
§2, the particular Church acquires their ownership; in the case of others, they belong to the institute or the Holy See, depending on whether the institute is or is not capable of possessing goods;2° if he has not lost the ownership of his goods through his profession, he recovers the use and enjoyment and the administration of the goods he possessed; what he obtains later, he acquires fully;3° in both cases any goods he receives which are not personal gifts must be disposed of according to the intention of the donors.

§1. Một nguyên Giám Mục dòng có thể ở nơi mình chọn, kể cả ở ngoài một nhà của tu hội, trừ khi Tòa Thánh đã dự liệu cách khác.
§2. Về việc cấp dưỡng thích hợp và xứng đáng cho vị ấy, trong trường hợp ngài đã phục vụ một giáo phận, thì phải tuân giữ điều 402
§2, trừ khi tu hội của ngài muốn đảm nhận việc cấp dưỡng ấy, nếu không, Tông Tòa phải lo liệu cách khác.
Canon 707
§1 A religious Bishop ‘emeritus’ may choose to reside outside the house of his institute, unless the Apostolic See disposes otherwise.
§2 If he has served a diocese, can. 402
§2 is to be observed concerning his suitable and worthy maintenance, unless his own institute wishes to provide such maintenance. Otherwise, the Apostolic See is to make other provision.
